Does urination position have an effect on evaluation of lower urinary tract function ın children? A uroflowmetric study

Abstract Background We aimed to determine whether different urination positions had significant impact on the parameters of uroflowmetry performed by healthy individuals and children with voiding dysfunction. Methods The study was conducted a prospective comparative design. Children between 5 15 years age who met inclusion–exclusion criteria were enrolled. in divided into two groups. Participants whose dysfunction symptom score ≥ 9 points classified group 1 remaining 2. Girls urinated as sitting squatting while boys three sitting, standing. Also, habitual position asked recorded for each individual participated study. Uroflowmetry compared groups separately p value ≤ .05 accepted statistical significance. Results Voided volume, maximum flow rate (Qmax), time reach Qmax, postvoid residual volume measured abdominal ultrasound every participant both In 1, girls presented significantly higher (the = 0.02). 2, Qmax standing 0.01). All participants provided better pattern their positions. Conclusion Urination may affect results; however, its lower urinary tract function requires further research.
